About
My interest in psychology started in my single digits, which coincides with about how long I have been listening to people tell me what’s going on with them.
I’ve quite literally been doing this all my life.
I grew up in an era where the World War II and Korean War veterans were running the country.
My father served stateside in the last year and a half of World War II, and my maternal grandfather was a decorated army combat officer in south Bavaria during World War II.
I even knew a few guys from World War I! Some of those folks chose to tell me what they saw when they were over there and I was mesmerized.
It’s one of the reasons why I worked as a volunteer fire fighter and EMT for five years in my community.
I wanted to get as close to the action as I possibly could to better understand it.
My main focus is veterans and first responders mental health needs, most notably PSTD.
I have also worked with inmates in a state-run, super-maximum facility.
I’ve learned that there is no such thing as a typical prison inmate.
The longer I have steeped myself in these populations, the more I’ve learned how much I do not know, and how complex these population, as well as all others, can be.
